On the day when we went to shop at nearby suburb, Berala, the Buddhist temple, Lingyen Mountain Temple, along Vivian Crescent got our attention due to its unconventional architectural design. Its front façade is not your usual Buddhist temples you get to see in most parts of Asia, where eaves point towards the skies and its roofs are angular.
What is unique about this newly built architectural building in one of the western suburbs of Sydney, is that, it brings out a more modern and urbane structural design, conforming to the simple but metropolitan-feel of the houses in Berala. Though contemporary, the temple is highlighted with the fervent red colour of Buddhism as seen in its massive columns, which conforms to Buddhist beliefs of the ‘preservation of life’ in general. Its front yard also features a modern, Japanese-inspired look, making it more unusual of a Buddhist temple.
That’s Lingyen Mountain Temple, a modern day Buddhist temple!
Like your blog, too! Great pictures.
Thank you! 🙂
Great place to visit. Keep a peaceful mind in the city especially after the stressful busy work throughout the week.
